Final Thoughts

Overall, this has been a very up and down reading year for me. Due to COVID, I’ve had more free time to read. But also due to COVID, sometimes the stress has made me not want to pick up a book. I’ve had several mini reading slumps and great reading periods over the past few months. But I a excited for the rest of the year. Thanks for reading my answers to the Mid Year Book Freakout Tag!

  1. I love your blog, it is so visually appealing! I wish I had used WordPress when I started my blog, it would have been a lot easier. Unfortunately, I am sort of stuck with blogger. I know there are ways to migrate blogs to different blog hosters, but the process has been quite confusing for me, and I find WordPress in general confusing and hard to work with. (That had nothing to do with your blog post, it was just what I immediately thought of with your blog.)

My reading has also changed by COVID-19. I always made time to read, so time for reading hasn’t been changing. What has been changing is the money I spend on books. I think, “Well, I can’t go to the public library, I might as well treat myself to new books until COVID-19 ends.” Unfortunately, I am now sitting at my desk, which has a pile of 10 new books I had bought during the pandemic, which is quite some money for buying books 🙂 I even wrote a blog post on how to budget your money on books! *mental face palm*

I was also introduced to the world of YA contemporary romance novels during this time. Sure, I knew what the genre was, but I had never invested time into reading one. Reading 100 Days Of Sunlight and Five Feet Apart changed my view on those types of novels, and I have been reading in that genre recently.

For new release, I want to read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but I need to actually finish reading the Hunger Games trilogy before I read it. I read the first book and the second book 8 months apart, and it took a while for me to get back into it.

Here are a few books I want to read by the end of the year. I want to finish reading every book of the hunger games, read Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne, and finish book 5 of Keeper of The Lost Cities. I have gotten into a big reading slump with the last one. (I started it two months ago.) I usually get tired of a series a few books in. I have to keep going with this though, because I have heard that the ending is fantastic. I sure hope so, because my favorite character just made a horrible life decision, and I am very angry at him!

A lot of these questions apply to Abbie Emmons and her book 100 Days Of Sunlight, so I will say it all here. New fictional crush: Weston. Not really a fiction crush but I find him and Tessa to be a good couple. Beautiful cover award for her book as well. I can’t believe she designed it! My favorite new author is definitely Abbie Emmons. I enjoyed this book on a lot of different levels, so it is going on my favorites list.

Time to wrap this comment up, because I just spent 15 minutes writing a comment (per usual.)

    1. I’m super cheap, so I haven’t spent much on books during this time. But I can see how easy it would be to do so. I recently signed up for BookBub to try and find good deals on books.

I hope to get to The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes soon. If you’re into YA fantasy, I’d also recommend The Diviners or An Ember in the Ashes. They’re really great.

Haha, yeah sometimes I put off or stop reading series too. So I totally get that.

I never heard of that book (100 Days of Sunlight) but I just searched the cover and you’re right, it is beautiful! Is she an indie author? Her cover looks so professional!

Thanks for the comment Leila. P.S., I love your name!

        1. Ah, ok, I think I may have seen one of her videos before! Cool.
Definitely! If you don’t want to buy the Diviners and are based in the U.S., you can read/listen to it using a library app like Libby.
